Our new deck!

Our new back deck was completed yesterday and we are absolutely delighted with it. We think it has much improved the back of the house and the entrance way, and the deck itself feels a lot bigger than we anticipated. We'd go as far as saying that, along with the kitchen, it's the best money we have spent on the house so far in terms of adding value for us.

It's made of Aztec decking which is a composite of recycled plastics. So it's very hard-wearing, maintenance-free and withstands extreme temperatures and weathering very well. No splinters and no staining wood for us!

It took the builders under 2 days to complete as much of it was built off-site. Lucy loved watching the 'digger' in the garden - actually a Bobcat with a drill attachment which made digging the footings a whole lot easier in such frozen ground! She told everyone at school on Tuesday that there was a digger in her garden, which was really sweet.

We plan on putting a small table and chairs set in the area that bumps out over the garden which will be a smaller seating area from the front porch, and perfect for family meals and BBQs. Come on summer!

No more horrid concrete steps

A nice spacious area to sit and relax

Our lovely home...can't wait to crack on with some more gardening in the back in spring
