"I want to choose what my like"
"I don't want to died Mummy! I don't want to get married Mummy!"
- no idea where she got this from apart from recent conversations about our wedding (and therefore about being married) when we were in New York at Christmas. We aren't shy to talk about death in small doses. When we see a dead bird or bug we say that it's dead which is a very long sleep that it won't wake up from. But it's not like we are the Adams Family and talk about death all the time... :)
Singing a song from toddler class, over and over with each of her Little People animals...
"Pig! You all set? Yeah? Pig is here today, pig is here today, let's all sing and clap our hands, hip hip hooray!"
When Lucy wakes from her nap she often stays happily in her cot playing, reading or singing to herself. If I go in at that point to get her, she says,
"I didn't call you Mummy, wait I call you"
I go downstairs and as soon as I'm there she calls "Mummy! Mummy!"
I've learnt my lesson and just leave her until she shouts me first time now :)
Still negotiating on extra time at every step in the day -
US - "Ok it's time to go to bed Lucy"
LUCY - "I want two minutes"
US - "No it's time for bed Lucy"
LUCY - "One minute?"
US - "One minute and then bed. Deal?"
LUCY - comes up to us, looks us in the eyes and shakes our hand "Deal!"
Most of the time it works.
Lucy has a set lunch menu everyday that she has become so attached to, it's almost impossible to feed her anything different if we're at home. Houmous, Kashi TLC crackers, Annie's bunny crackers, rice cake and cheese - and often peanuts too. A yogurt for afters plus fruit if she hasn't lost interest after the first course. She calls this menu 'lunch'. So if at any other point in the day she says she wants lunch, she is basically saying she wants houmous and crackers. Believe me, I have tried to serve egg on toast or something different and she goes mental.
