She's bright as a button and holding conversations with us now. She counts to 16 (and says that everyone is aged 16, including herself), and recounts her colours. She loves shopping and cars, slides, books and her friends. She's loving, affectionate and sensitive, while at the same time is adventurous and fiercely independent. She loves to join in our conversations and listens intently to what people say and watches what they do. She has more logic than I do at times (!), and is incredibly patient, enjoying working things out for herself, playing alone for long periods and enjoying her own company. She's a smart negotiator - often trying to do a deal to get more time playing before bed or a meal - and is already trying to pull the wool over our eyes at times. I know they say that within the first 3 years of a child's life, their personality is pretty much set. So if this is true, we think she's on to a good thing :)
Lucy has been singing Happy Birthday this week and is enjoying reading a library book that I got for her in an attempt to explain what a birthday is. Yesterday she kept saying 'Happy Birthday at the top of her voice which was very sweet. We'll have a fun-filled day of lots of special little girl birthday things - balloons, cake, singing and of course presents (which have been arriving by the day this week!).
We have a tea party arranged for next week when some of playgroup friends are coming over for cake and sandwiches, English-style. I am looking forward to it!
