Today we talked about one her favourite toys of the moment, her yellow VW Beetle. It has little doors that open and yesterday Lucy was pushing little wheat crackers inside for fun...and being such a great game she wants to do it all the time now! I asked her whether the car was eating the crackers and she said 'No Mum, Lucy eat crackers'. Yep, she's picked up 'Mum' from somewhere and is calling me that rather than Mummy sometimes.
In the past few days she's also started saying 'Sorry about that Mummy' which seems to come up at strange times when she hasn't done anything wrong but maybe when she's knocked me gently. Our hard work with manners has paid off and she now regularly says please and thank you without being prompted :)
We play with her new toy car in the garden a lot too - her Cozy Coupe. She gets in and out and pretends she is going somewhere. She insists that I sit on the back step while she is in the car, turns to me and says 'Going to the shops Mummy, bye bye'. So I ask her which shop and she says something like 'the toy shop' or 'the supermarket' and then we talk about what she's going to buy. 'Juice' and 'toys' is a popular purchase. She certainly loves shopping - the real deal and the pretending.
Singing is her latest thing too. As you'll see from yesterday's blog, renditions of Insy Winsy Spider are frequent now. She also likes singing Happy Birthday, ABC song, Wheels on the Bus and the Postman Pat theme tune (particularly cute!).
I love the way that Lucy gives any word a try and that she is so verbal at this point. it's lots of fun and makes life easier as she can tell us what she's thinking and feeling. Definitely out of the baby stage!
