First day at school!

Lucy had her first experience of school today at St James' Preschool in Downingtown. We started a Mommy & Me program which is an hour of play, stories, singing and craft with a group of about 6 other kids, run by Lucy's teacher, Miss Cathy.

Although we have been to other groups and classes together, I felt that this one really was the beginning of school for Lucy, so felt it was a big step and I was little emotional, thinking of Lucy growing up.

I am calling it school so that Lucy starts to grasp what happens at a real school. She even said to me when I was telling her all about it in the bath last night - 'School. Mama come? Bye bye Mummy, come back later.' So sweet! I explained to her that I would be coming too and joining in the activities, and she then proudly said 'Mama coming', every time I mentioned school this morning.

We sang some old favourites and some new ones, and did a really nice little craft which was a clip for the fridge to hang artwork on. Lucy wouldn't let me draw around her hand for the template so I used Max instead :) Lucy's friends Max and Graham came to school too, so it was nice for her to have some good friends that she recognised.

The program goes through the autumn for 10 weeks so it's something else to keep us busy as the weather turns and as it's 5 minutes from Wegmans I can get my groceries done without making a special trip another day :)
