Rain, rain go away!

It has been raining here every day but one since April 5th - the day our water company declared us in drought and stopped us from using the garden hose and sprinklers. At first it was a welcome relief as we have had so little rain for 18 months, and we had our new garden plants to settle in. But after 3 solid weeks it's becoming a bit of a joke!

Last week we had tilers in laying a new floor in the kitchen, hallway and downstairs bathroom. It looks fantastic but it was quite disruptive having the work done, so the rain didn't help! We have more work to do and then I will post the photos of the finished product. Still new doors, a new toilet suite and decorating to be done.

Lucy and I have been doing loads of crafts and colouring, sticking and cutting while we've been indoors so much. Lucy is becoming quite an artist these days and just loves to write words. She's getting better at it by the day and now preschool is ramping up the writing and reading exercises before reception/kindergarten starts in September. I've taken pictures of some of her work to show you.

Lucy has also spent the last week or so sleeping in a den we made over her bed. A sheet is hung over the bunting above her bed so it's like a huge tent. She loves it and we have spent quite a bit of time lying in there playing 'foxes' or bunnies' and also reading piles of books. Much like the old days when we would sit for hours reading through piles of books. I am drinking up these times before September, when our schedule will fill up and Lucy will probably be very tired most of the time she is at home as she adjusts to full time school. She's like me when she's tired - grumpy and lacking in many social skills!
Lauren is Lucy's best friend at preschool
and they often write cards and letters to each other in class

A house - I love the thin roof and the windows
