Since September Lucy has been going to preschool everyday, if even for a few hours some of those days. But as we started the final term before the summer holiday and end of the school year a week ago, Lucy and I decided we would really like a day a week together to do fun things and spend some quality time together. From early September Lucy will be in reception class (kindergarten) at primary school and although they have a few weeks part time to help them settle, school will be all day every day for the next 12 or 13 years! Well barring holidays of course.
So Fridays have become 'Mummy Day' according to Lucy. Last week we went to the zoo which is near us, called Hamerton. It's set high on the wolds so it was breezy and a bit on the cool side (hence she's wearing a scarf and about 4 layers!). We like going to Hamerton as it's not too big and the animals are all really easy to see and clearly well looked-after. They have a couple of Bengal tigers and some cheetahs, plus lots of primates, marsupials and this lovely lemur who came to sniff at us at the fence.

Having our picnic. Lucy is a sucker for crisps (potato chips).
Tomorrow is Friday again, and this week Lucy wants to go to the library to pick out some new books. I think we might borrow a DVD too, as the rain is set to stay with us through the weekend. We're having work done in the house this week too, and the kitchen is largely out of action thanks to a new tiled floor going down, so we'll probably head out for some lunch at a cafe too.
