Hola Mallorca!

We just had a lovely week in Mallorca with Jen, Marc, Max & Alex. We shared a villa in Can Picafort on the north east coast just south of Alcudia.

It all worked out really well - the villa was spacious and just right for what we needed, and the pool and terrace were ideal for 3 excited little vacationers to run around, take dips in the pool and play the many games they made up during the week. Us grown ups liked it too because it was tucked away and a nice 19 minute walk from the beach (not too far to carry the kids and their beach clutter for a trip to the seaside :)

Joe and Marc rented out super duper road bikes for the week so did some good rides in the mountains and along some great Mallorcan roads. Mallorca is known as a top place for professional cyclists to train off-season, so as keen cyclists Marc and Joe were in their element. Meanwhile Jen and I got to catch up and enjoy relaxing with the children on the beach and in the villa. We also hired a beach bike one morning which was great fun.

Both families had a rental car so we went and did our own thing some of the time. We enjoyed Alcudia town very much, as well as Capdepera and it's Castell, Coves del Drac in the south and Pollensa area including the Cap Formentor which is the northern peninsula of the island and has some very scary cliff roads!

It was so nice to relax in the sunshine and be with the Lauterbachs. The children surprised us all by playing really nicely together all week, with only a minor spat here and there over sharing or all choosing the same thing to do or watch. It's the best that Max and Lucy have got on together since they were toddlers. They're both at the imaginary play stage and on the same page with loving building homes and making up stories about monsters and wild animals. Max doesn't mind talking princesses and mermaids, and Alex is a sport for just joining in and leaving them to it when he finds something else to do. And what a sweetheart Little Alex is. He's definitely one of those toddlers you just want to put in a sandwich and eat up! ;-)

I'm now having fun making up a photo book of our trip as I think it'll be a nice memento and better than leaving 50 photos on my computer and rarely looking at them!

We're happy to be home, especially as the weather is beautiful here this week. Lucy is tired but happy to be back at preschool. The work on our house is still progressing so she loves the interaction with the plumbers and carpenter Julian. But I am a little weary of it now (it's taken way longer because the carpenter is juggling jobs). But we're on the finishing leg now and it's all coming together really well. On to the painting and cleaning up stage next - Joe and I will be doing that!
