We're back!

A long break from the blog for me...a lack of news or excitement here, but today I am armed with some new photos of Lucy and a dribble of news of what we have been up to.

We had a relaxing weekend around home. The weather was hot and humid -yuck! - and the excitement of summer coming has waned already as we remember that the humidity is more than a little annoying. Still, it hopefully won't be like this ALL the way until September (please?). We did take a few trips to the park and had a lovely lunch at Christine and Phil's to celebrate Owen's First Communion. I first met Owen when he was three and he is now eight - tall and handsome and no sign of preschooler left. It was a proud day for him and his parents :)

Joe and I watched some excellent telly on Saturday night - a three-part drama based on the true events of a serial murder in England a few years ago. 'Five Daughters' was excellent and we stayed up to watch all three in succession. It was on earlier last week but with our sneaky BBCiPlayer connection we get to download these things and save them until we're ready to gawp at them. We still don't miss US cable and enjoy the UK telly we have immensely, although these days we are often too pooped to spend time watching it by the time Lucy has gone to bed! Old folks that we are.

This morning Lucy and I went to the garden centre to buy a new plant which is for a blank spot next to our new deck. I bought a pyracantha which is evergreen, loves the sun (good job as it will fry in this spot), and grows fast. It will provide a lovely screen to next door's driveway in the coming years. I also bought a fitted a few plant rings - basically rings on stakes to prop up my peonies and salvia which are already about to flop over with the weight of the buds. What a revelation! They make the plants look neat and now we can enjoy the flowers without them dragging on the ground. I will take some photos of the garden this week to show you. It is blooming nicely and my planting from last year is looking good.

Now for the photos...

I'll try to blog sooner next time!
