Weekend antics

We had a lovely weekend, despite rain and sticky weather. Saturday we headed over to Norriton near Philly for a colleague of Joe's son's birthday party, Bennett. Lucy had a fabulous time - it was held at a bouncy castle (moonbounce) venue which was packed with bouncy slides and tunnels and climbing frames. Joe and I went on all of them as a large part of the enjoyment for Lucy was seeing us joining in and making clowns of ourselves. It was a lot of fun and she got more and more confident with the climbing as the hour went on. She definitely has no fear of the really high slides and as soon as she gets to the top of the stairs (that bit takes her ages!), she flings herself down the inflatable slide with no cares. It's hilarious.

Pizza and delicious home-made birthday cakes were served afterwards, and the highlight for Lucy was singing Happy Birthday to Bennett. She had been practicing in bed the night before (we heard her on the monitor) so had it down and I think she was one of the only children who sang it all the way through!

Sunday we met PopPop Al and Nana Ealise at Longwood for a walk and lunch. It was a bit overcast but the rain held off and we enjoyed walking through the conservatories, looking at the huge lily displays. Longwood took delivery of 10,000 cut lily stems from The Netherlands last week, and for the next week they are on display in the most amazing forms....arches, vases, fountains and topiary. It was incredible (as was the scent!). Lunch was yummy as ever and we enjoyed Longwood's famous mac n cheese - a favourite of us all.

Joe and I were pretty tired this weekend after a busy week. Joe recovered from a hectic few weeks of planning and attending the conference, and I enjoyed some relaxation too. Saturday was Grandma Croser's birthday, so Lucy enjoyed singing to her on the phone and catching up with them on their weekend away in Whitby. Happy Birthday Grandma!

Another week begins and so far we have hit Wegmans and the library, stocking up on more stories and another Disney Princess DVD. The weather is still very English - wet and overcast with a stickiness in the air which is a little uncomfortable but not hot. Hopefully later in the week the sun will shine again as I am keen to get out in the garden and do some work out there.
