We enjoyed long walks along the boardwalk every day, looking out towards the Atlantic Ocean. The kids loved running around on the beach in the sand. It's still early in the season there so there were very few people about and hardly anyone on the long beaches. Lucy LOVED the ocean and insisted on splashing about in the freezing cold water! Jen brought a wagon with her which was perfect for the kids to sit in and be pulled around in (until they decided that it would be fun to throw the sand toys out as we went along!).
We discovered a great children's shop on the main shopping street which was stuffed full of lovely wooden toys, and plenty laid out for the kids to 'try out'. Lucy fell in love with a mini metal shopping cart which really looked like the real thing. The shop also had craft tables set up, so we did some painting and enjoyed watching the kids in their 'aprons' making a mess.
We visited the Cape May County Zoo which was fabulous. A great selection of animals that the children recognised, plus some rarer ones which was fun. And all completely free! We would both highly recommend this zoo for anyone going to the area this sumemr.
Max and Lucy got on famously as ever and were very excited to be on holiday together. Jen and I got some quality catching up time in the evenings, thanks to both children being excellent sleepers while we were there.
We'll definitely be heading back to the beach altogether again, wherever either of us is in the world. Such a relaxing way to spend a few days and get some change of scenery. Enjoy the slide show!
