We Crosers are royalists and very much in awe of the Royal Family and especially the Queen. She is 86 years old and a true lady in our eyes. I saw her once from a far when I was about 7 or 8 years old and she visited Leamington Spa near where I grew up. She was waving at the crowds on a balcony above The Parade. Joe saw her as a child too. I would love to meet her properly and see what the real person is like.
Last weekend our village held a street party to celebrate the Jubilee. It was a big event and literally everyone from our village of about 750 residents came to it, as well as their children and grandchildren in many cases. There was a band and singer (very good), a face painter (excellent), lots of homemade food like sandwiches, pork pies and cakes, and a magician. We all sang the national anthem (God Save The Queen) during the party which was quite moving. We all had a lot of fun chatting to friends and neighbours and soaking up the atmosphere. We sat on a table under the willow trees with our good friends Emma and Richard and their girls Faye and Isla who Lucy spent her time running around with.

Almost everyone all weekend was wearing red, white and blue to mark the occasion, and lots of houses were covered in bunting and Union flags. Most villages and towns had events going on including parties, afternoon teas, fetes and concerts. We enjoyed a family day in the nearby village of Titchmarsh with our friends Naomi and Tim who live there; the village put on a treasure hunt for families which was fun (although we stopped off at the pub at question 20 and never got back to the other 20 questions!). We also had tea at some friends in Nassington, also nearby, and ate red, white and blue cupcakes :)

The television coverage of the festivities in London was worth watching too, especially the concert outside Buck House on Sunday night. It was a real treat and we are now even more into the Royal Family than we were before :)
