We had a fabulous time as ever. Max and Lucy enjoyed catching up over Playmobil and we both fell in love with Alex who is such a fun loving and laid back little chap, now coming up 18 months old. Jen and I always make a great team looking after the house and teaming up to make meals and generally keep everyone entertained and happy.
The weather was COLD - Up to -16 some days and we had some snow fall on a few days which was thankfully prettier rather than obstructive. The cold temperatures have been lasting for an usually long time for them, so the nearby lake was completely frozen and ice skaters were enjoying using it as a rink. We pulled the kids across on the sledge on the way to pick up Max from kindergarten. It was an amazing experience and a little scary really.
We visited the Playmobil Fun Park twice - excellent indoor entertainment! - and had a pool morning at a nearby pool complex which was amazing - jacuzzis, slides, an outdoor hot springs pool, a children's rock pool area. I so wish they had places like that here in England, they would do so well.
Jen and Marc got to go out for Valentine's night together while I stayed with the kids, and we had some fun evenings watching movies and generally catching up over wine (champagne one night!) and enjoying some kid free time.
I always come home missing the family and the house, but at the same time it's good to be home and have Lucy settled in her own bed again, and generally being easier to manage. She can be pretty challenging when we stay at other people's houses at times! We're all meeting up again in May in Mallorca, Spain for a family vacation, so it was nice tosay goodbye and know that it won't be long until we see them all again - and in the sunshine no less!
