Lambing time at the farm

We had a super afternoon yesterday at Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre near us, where we saw tiny weeny lambs that had only just been born, lots of cuddly rabbits, cows, shire horses and lots of sheep and naughty goats. Lucy was in her element as she is such an animal lover.

We bought some food for the animals so enjoyed feeding the ones which we were allowed to. Lucy wasn't phased by any of it but did draw the line at feeding the year old calves which left Mummy's hand in a disgusting slobbery mess after feeding! The lambs were adorable and still so tiny they were being kept warm under warming lamps. We went into one barn where two lambs had only been born two hours before. The staff were trying really hard to get them to latch on to their mother whose teats were engorged beyond belief. So now we know ladies, it's not only us humans who have difficulties getting newborns to latch on!

Our friends Emily and Lizzie and baby Charlotte invited us along to the farm as they go a lot. It was a great fund and we'll definitely go again. There's a little zoo near us across the fields too, so we'll check that out in the next few weeks as the weather improves. It's fun exploring all these new places and there seem to plenty to choose from around here. Yey!

We had the usual meltdown from Lucy on leaving the farm. She was exhausted but didn't want to leave. She wasn't allowed anything form the shop so the world was ending in her world. I remember being small and not wanting good days to end and hated the thought of leaving without a souvenir. A freebie catalogue of toy tractors went someway to easing her pain :)
