At the zoo

We had a fab time at Philadelphia Zoo on Sunday with our friends Susan and Dave and their two little ones Bennett and Madeline.

I'm glad that we got there as the zoo opened as it made for a quieter morning and the day was so hot, we avoided much of the humidity and heat of the day. We saw lots of lovely animals including a rhino, crocodiles and hippos which Lucy hasn't seen in the flesh before. We also got really close to some tigers and lions as the enclosure had a huge glass viewing area and the animals happened to be sitting right next to the window.

Lucy was as independent as ever, and enjoyed walking around holding hands with Daddy and checking out what she liked to look of. She seemed to take a keen interest in the snakes which is slightly concerning! I think we'll stick to guinea pigs or goldfish on the pet front when she's older :)

After the zoo we went to our friends house for lunch and a play in the garden and in the basement (when the heat really got going!). They live in Conshohoken about 3 minutes from Ikea, so on the way home we couldn't help but drop in and have a look. It was the cheapest visit I have ever made and we only spent $15...oh plus a couple of dollars on some delicious cinnamon roll and ice cream!

Today is as sticky as yesterday and not very nice. Poor Lucy can't sleep for the heat so I think the pool will have to come out this afternoon!
