Where have we been and what have we been doing?

It's been a hectic few weeks to say the least, and I'm afraid that posting on the blog has been lower on the list than usual. Life has been a bit of a rocky road as we have all had a nasty cold/cough and continued with the kitchen project which is now 6 weeks in. Thankfully this weekend we are all feeling much better and the kitchen is so close to being finished, we can start to sit back and begin to enjoy what we have created. Finally!

Lucy and I have been able to get out this past week and made the most of our last run of classes before the break and the 'new term' in a couple of weeks. On Fridays we have a new playgroup to go to. Along with about 8 other Mums and their toddlers, I have been helping to get it going. Jen found a great space at the town council building which we can have for a few hours, free of charge. Each Mum takes it in turns to run the playgroup each week, reading stories, arranging games, singing songs and doing a craft. It's been really good fun seeing what the other Mums do to entertain us and it's a good way to get together and let the kids run around somewhere other than our homes!

We've played outside a lot recently, the weather having turned nicely into spring sunshine in between very English rainstorms. I did my first bit of planting today which was lovely - some pansies in pots on the front and back porches. It's great to see bulbs coming up and flowers in the garden centres again. Spring is definitely in the air with Easter close and the shops full of goodies. Unlike England, the shops aren't stacked full of chocolate Easter eggs here, rather candies and chocolate bunnies, baskets crammed with toys and egg decorating kits. I have to say I would welcome a Cadbury's Buttons Easter Egg right now. Cadbury's anykindofegg actually...

This weekend we're consumed with final purchases for the kitchen...switch plates, blinds and drawer organisers to name a few. The tiling was done today and looks fabulous. Mark returns on Monday to do some final coats of paint and begin a few days of final touches before him and his tools bid us farewell. We're looking forward to photographing the kitchen and posting photos when it's ready...we do like to keep you all in suspense :)
