The new window is now in - hallelujah! - which is the penultimate big and messy job on the list. Mark has been working hard today to finish the interior wall where the window went in so that he can give it a coat of paint and be ready for the floor refinishing which begins early on Monday morning (the final big and messy job).
After that the final pieces of the jigsaw will slot together in no time - base cabinets first, then wall cabinets, final lighting and appliances are delivered next Sunday. By a week on Monday I should at least be able to cook on the new stove and use a brand new fridge without having to go down to the basement every time (how novel!). The countertops and sink follow that on March 27th and final things like tiling and topcoats of paint will be done in the nick of time before Dad and Jeanne's visit in mid April.
We have had some funny experiences with microwave meals since being kitchen-less. We had one last night which was so lame it might even be worth a letter to the manufacturer. All I can say is never buy Tai Pei frozen microwave meals. By no means is this brand the cheapest option, but nonetheless the Bourbon Chicken had a single piece of chicken in the box which was about the size of one key on the computer keyboard. Not good! Let's just say that the Sour Cream and Chive crisps (chips) went down well last night :)

So tonight we are going to tuck into a takeaway curry and naan bread from Star of India in town which Joe has just gone to collect. Decent, homemade curry with lots of chicken in it and no gaps to fill with transfatty crisps.
