Nurse Charlotte is on duty today as both Joe and Lucy are poorly with tummy bugs :( Lucy started in the night and Joe this morning, and both are trying to sleep/rest it off today. Poor Lucy doesn't understand why she can't eat her meals and keeps going to the fridge to get some food! She is such a good eater but I have been avoiding the food route today!Perhaps the cause of Joe's sickness is a meal we had last night at the Annual Bentley Holiday Gala (a kind of ball/posh dinner for the Brits amongst you!). There were almost 500 people at the event which was held in a hotel in King Of Prussia. As you'd expect from a big dinner, the food was ordinary...and perhaps spiked with nasties in Joe's case. It was a nice evening all the same. We dressed up in our best - me in a posh gown and Joe in his tuxedo. We enjoyed seeing friends and colleagues also dressed up to the nines. I have been to a number of such events with Joe now, so feel quite comfortable chatting away to the big wigs and company founders. Greg Bentley, the CEO, was there and actually sought me out to say hello which was an honour.
We left Lucy in the very capable hands of Jen who did a great job of putting Lucy to bed. It was the first time we had left her to be put to bed by someone other than Mummy or Daddy, so we were delighted that she actually went to bed with no trouble! It was so sweet when Jen arrived as Lucy was eating her tea, and when I said that Jen was here, she got very excited and starting taking her bib off to get down....she thought her friend Max (Jen's son) had come to play. Bless!
So today we are lying low and have had to cancel going to the baptism of our friends Maureen and Greg's son Matthew which is a shame. They always throw a good family party and we were looking forward to seeing Lucy play with the children who would have been there. I spent some of my week painting something for Matthew's bedroom as a baptism gift, so we'll go over soon and see them. I have just read Rob's blog and it sounds like he, Joe and Harry had a very similar situation today, having to cancel going to a Christening half way down the motorway because Harry was sick all over the car! Oh dear.
All being well with Lucy, I am looking forward to a fun week. Classes begin again - the library storytelling, music class and it's our turn to go to Longwood Gardens on Tuesday. I think we'll squeeze in a swim too, and the odd play date I am sure.
My patients are in bed for the night now so I am off for some much-needed time to myself now...stay well everyone!

This is the painting that I did for Matthew, baptised today. I did a painting of Daisy Duck for Matthew's sister Haley when she was baptised in 2007. I hope they like it!
