Ofsted success for school and playgroup

Children, staff and governors at Trinity Lower School in Aldwincle and Aldwincle Playgroup have been celebrating this week after both settings were classed as good under new Ofsted framework.

Both inspections recognised the value placed on children as individuals and praised the ways in which every child’s needs were met socially and academically.
The playgroup is commended for enabling the children to “extend their play and develop their independence” through “effective organisation of children into small groups with their key workers” who build effective relationships and get to know individual children well.
Inspectors praised the outstanding transition links between the playgroup and the school which have been a key area for development over the past two years.
It was recognised that the children at Trinity Lower School learn well in lessons and make good progress because they are taught well through a curriculum that values all pupils equally, and in which discrimination has no place. This was also highlighted by the overwhelmingly positive views expressed by parents and carers who completed the inspection questionnaires.
In a joint statement, chairman of the Playgroup Governing Committee Chantall Ridd-Jones, and chairman of governors of Trinity School Helen Mallett said: “We are delighted with the results of our inspections which are a very fair reflection and provide recognition of the efforts that the staff and governing committees have put into providing a high quality and nurturing start to our children’s education.”
