Romantic weekend away

We had the most lovely weekend just over a week ago. We spent a couple of nights staying with Joe's parents in North Yorkshire, visited Joe's Grandma and enjoyed catching up with everyone. Then Joe and I left Lucy with Grandma and Grandpa for two nights and took off to the Lake District for a romantic weekend to ourselves.

It's the first time we've done this since Lucy was born, so it was very welcome and we had a fab time. Our hotel was tucked away in woodland in the centre of the lakeland area (in Langdale) and we had a gorgeous room overlooking the river (literally 2 metres away!) and enjoyed some yummy meals in the hotel restaurant and plenty of relaxation time in the spa there.

The hotel pool and spa - we spent a lot of time in here!

We also took a walk around a nearby lake, Tarn Hows, which was beautiful and very peaceful. It was great to be able to walk at our own pace and enjoy the scenery rather than  make up games and run about trying to jolly Lucy along! The whole weekend was so relaxing and we were able to reconnect with each other and enjoy being together without distraction. It's definitely rejuvenated us both and we're back with new energy.

Needless to say Lucy had a fantastic time with her grandparents and found it hard to leave. She had done all sorts of fun things and been really settled without us. We'll definitely do it again!
