Back to school

Yey! School is back again and there has been such excitement about it here. Lucy started a new preschool on September 6th in the nearby village of Aldwincle. So far she has come bounding out every day with a big grin on her face, and the teachers say she has fitted in straight away.

She now goes for 2 full days a week plus 3 afternoons, so she is starting to get used to the all-day school thing and so that I can get more time at home to get stuck into things. She does all sorts when she's there - painting, drawing and writing, circle time, outside play, baking and lots of playing with the hundreds of toys. She especially likes the make believe corner where every day the teachers set up something new like a nurses station or a vets. There is also a dolls house which Lucy loves and she has apparently been tidying it up and keeping it ship shape!

On Fridays Lucy goes to a different place for the day - a Montessori preschool. She's only been for one day so far and she enjoyed herself. It's a little smaller and the activities are slightly different so it gives her some variety and a little more focused time one on one with the teachers.

The weather has been great here all month, and reminds me of Fall in Chester County. I love this time of year when the sun shines but you can smell autumn and winter around the corner. I am busy gardening - digging out new flower beds and planting where I can. The beds are too small for my gardening appetite so I have had to make some bigger and create new ones!

Lucy turns 4 tomorrow - unbelievable! We are set with presents and balloons and cupcakes for preschool. She had her party yesterday which went down really well and she loved it. We had 14 kids and lots of family there, so it was noisy and hectic. Lucky we booked an entertainer to keep the children happy and busy. I'll post some pictures when I get them from my brother (I was too busy doing food and talking to get any taken!).

Above is a photo of Lucy last week, reading a new library book with Joe. I couldn't get her to let me take a first day of school photo so this one will have to do!
