The Snowman is one of the most special stories and short films out there. My sister Jane sent Lucy a DVD of the film last Christmas, and this afternoon I received a parcel from her which had the audio CD of the music and story in it. It's so magical. It reminds me of when I was a child, and is already one of Lucy's favourites (winter, summer, anytime of year!).
I am actually writing this blog while I listen to the CD, and while I listen to Lucy in her bed singing the songs to herself (a regular occurence).
The Snowman was written by Raymond Briggs, a famous cartoon/illustrator in England. It is hard to get hold of over here in America, but if you can, you must get the music or the DVD. Small children just love it. It's such a Christmassy, wintery story without any of the flashy modern characters and special effects. In fact the film is entirely set to classical music, with no words.
