It started at about 7pm and loads of families turned out for it, so town was buzzing and full of children dressed up in their costumes waiting to see the parade. I had forgotten about the parade until Joe reminded me at the last minute, so Lucy wasn't in her costume...and was a little disappointed not to be! I'll be better organised next year.
Lots of local Scout and Girl Scout groups, churches, schools and sports teams were in the parade holding banners and throwing candy out for the children. Even a local greyhound club came and paraded along with their dogs dressed up in little costumes! Lucy loved that. There were also several really good marching bands, which Lucy found a little overwhelming as the sound of about 40 brass instruments and drums only a few feet away from us was pretty loud!
It was an impressive show and truly an American experience. Some of the sports teams and clubs had their cheer leading teams with them which was also fun to watch, and something we're not used to in England.
There is another parade for Christmas which we'll try to go to as that was fun last year. And when we can walk into town within a few minutes, it's a nice little outing for us before bed.
