Playing in the snow

Yesterday I reluctantly took Lucy out into the garden to play in the snow. I don't really like the snow and hate being cold, so the draw to stay inside in the warm was strong. I am so glad that my inner parent voice spoke loudly enough to tell me otherwise, because we both had a great time!

Laurie gave us a baby-sized sledge (sled) for Lucy a while back and this was her first time trying it out. She LOVED it! Our back garden is a bit sloping in places so I ran around with her strapped into the sledge and whizzed her down the slopes and round the trees. Good practice for her 'more' sign language!

She wasn't able to walk without me holding her hands very well (the wellies are too big and the snow a bit unstable for a new walker) but she enjoyed making footprints in the fresh snow and climbing up and down the bck steps to the house.

I am all for raising Lucy to love the fresh air and nature but was hoping I could restrict that to fair weather days only. Now I know that isn't the way it should be and I vow to take her out there again to enjoy more snow adventures!
