Hallowe'en!

Lucy had a ball last night for Hallowe'en. Some friends of hers who live in our village (Faye, 6 and Isla, 8) came over to play for the afternoon and they spent time running around, talking to the ponies over the fence, colouring, reading to each other and playing cafes. Late afternoon they all got into their Hallowe'en costumes and I made their faces up with paints - great fun!

Faye and Isla as witches and little Lucy as a black cat (3rd year running, same outfit!)

Then we headed out for trick or treating with the girls' Dad Richard, myself and Joe. We knocked on neighbour's doors that we know or had pre-arranged to visit. The girls got treated like princesses everywhere they went and they got some fabulous treats. One couple which lives across the road are American, so we even got some American candies like Three Musketeers, Hershey bars and York patties. I had to explain to the children when we got home what they were!

Emma, the girls' Mum came home from work and we all had pizza at our house, a few glasses of wine and a good natter. We had about 5 sets of trick or treaters ourselves and it was fun to see them all in their outfits which were pretty impressive.

We are so pleased that the Watsons have moved into our village this summer as the girls get along really well and Rich and Emma are lovely too. Joe and Rich has started cycling together at weekends and as they have a big house renovation project, Joe is going to get involved in helping them to realise their dream home by giving some expert architecture advice.
