Lucy's Playgroup

Lucy goes to a pre-school local to our house (about 4 miles away) which is called Tansor Playgroup. To call a pre-school a playgroup is typical over here, but it is really the same as a pre-school in America except that it is government funded. Yes, Lucy goes to pre-school for free :) Up to 5 mornings a week if we want them :))

I immediately joined the committee of parents which runs the playgroup. I wanted to get involved in volunteer work again, and knew this would be a great way to network and meet other families. They needed someone to build them a new website and run the publicity side of things so I jumped at the role.

I have been very busy almost since we moved here with the new website and designing posters and advertisements for local press to promote the playgroup. Many of the children currently at the playgroup are going to school in September so we are losing a fair few and need to recruit new little ones to join us! Hence my hard work to try to let everyone know about us right now, as this is when lots of families are thinking of childcare from September.

Over here the playgroups are mixed classes from 2-4 year olds. So Lucy is bang in the middle at her current age and it works well. The teachers give them activities which suit each child's ability and it's lovely to see the old children playing and caring for the younger ones. But it does mean that when a whole chunk of the children leave to start school, then we are low on numbers. It seem that Lucy's school year is a low birth year as so many playgroups locally are having the same issue.

Anyway, here is a link to my website which I hope you like. I worked hard on it and am proud of it, but am definitely open to comments and suggestions to make it better! Let me know if you spot anything.

  1. Wow, Charlie, there is so much content. It must have taken forever to do this. Congrats, well done! Hope it pays off and you get lots of new recruits. Looks like a fun place!
