In between worlds

Last Saturday was a momentous day for the Crosers. We flew back to the UK - for good. After months of planning, packing and stress, our move date finally came. And now here we are!

Since we landed on Saturday we have been staying in Kilsby with my Mum and have had a very hectic time getting ourselves settled. I think we've done an amazing job so far - by Thursday we had found a house to rent, bought cars for each of us, got mobile phones and found a preschool for Lucy to join. Phew!

Our furniture and belongings arrive tomorrow after a week's voyage on the Atlantic, and by next weekend it should all be ready for delivery to our new house in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. Ampthill is a lovely country market town north of London and close to the M1 (junction 13), so great for access to North London for Joe's job and for seeing family up north. Mum is only an hour away and Rob even closer. Stansted and Luton airports (great for trips to Europe) are really close too. We're really excited about the town and what it has to offer - quaint little shops, our favourite supermarket (Waitrose), great schools and a lovely park on the outskirts of town which we tested out today and loved. Hopefully we'll enjoy the town and settle there, and in time find a house to buy there.

Joe's new job starts on Tuesday in Barnet, North London. He's going to be Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Board Executive for Pointools, a 3D laser scanning software company. He's very excited about it and eager to get started.

As the title suggests, I think the best way to describe how we feel is that we are between worlds at the moment. We have left behind our lovely home in West Chester which we loved, a great bunch of friends and a very comfortable way of life. These few weeks before we get settled in our new home are feeling like we are in a holding pattern, waiting for the next chapter to begin and to start almost all over again. New job, new town, new home, new school and new friends. We might be home in our own country where we have family and existing friends, but it is as big a step for us as it was to move across the ocean to the States 5 years ago.

For those who are new to all of this news then we are sorry to not have been in touch yet! It has been a busy time for us and the news that we were moving was only public just before we left the States. We'll be in touch as soon as we can, but if you want to get in touch with us...
