A new year brings a fresh start, resolutions and renewal in our house. As I get older I see the New Year as more and more of a celebration. Gone are the days of wanting Christmas to last forever and feeling deflated on New Year's Day when it's all over. Here are the days of looking forward to January and everything that a new year can bring.
Today we sowed the seeds for our new year resolution, one which many people will be setting - 'To Get Fit'. Long ago did the excuse of having a baby, nursing and moving house run out for me when it comes to exercising. Now is the time to get back into yoga, tone up and get back in shape!
Joe has been doing a great job of exercising on our elliptical for a good few weeks now. He does 30-60 minutes a day, happily reading a book or watching The Office on his laptop while he peddles. Puts me to shame.
To start the ball rolling, we went to see West Chester's new YMCA today. The new facility recently opened, having moved from a much smaller town centre location. That would have been really convenient for us, but the newer 'Y' as they call it here, has much more to offer us. It has 3 pools (one of which is a toddler pool), a huge gym, a nursery/babysitting service and loads of classes. We had our tour, had a chat and jumped straight in to new membership.
So tomorrow morning we'll be working off tonight's gluttony at Tom & and Laurie's by swimming lengths and beginning our resolution. Lucy will have a ball (she loves swimming), we'll take it in turns to swim lengths and I will check out the exercise classes and yoga sessions. They even have 'Mommy & Me' programs for Lucy and I when she finally drops the morning nap and frees up some time. So everybody now 'Y-M-C-A-It's fun to go to the Y-M-C-A...'
Have a great New Year everyone!!
